OPGW (Optical Ground Wire) is the communication system built over the fiber optic cables strung on TEİAŞ’s 154 kV and 380 kV lines. Both ends of the OPGW line are terminated in the OPGW box on the tower, then a non-metallic fiber optic cable is pulled into the telecom room where SDH and multiplexer equipment is installed.

It collects data from physical equipment, sensors, inputs/outputs and metering devices, transmits it to the central unit and enables remote control.

OPGW lines between Alkumru HPP, Siirt Substation and Siirt Cement Substation were terminated. Raisecom STM-1 SDH and RC3000-15 multiplexers were installed. The 64K leased line was connected to the Elazığ load dispatch centre via Cisco multiplexers, providing RTU and PAX communication. DCE FSK modems and a Karel DS200 PAX were used.
OPGW lines between Kargı HPP and Çayırhan Substation were terminated. A Raisecom ITN2100 STM-4 SDH multiplexer was installed. The 64K leased line was connected to the load dispatch centre via Cisco multiplexers, providing RTU and PAX communication. DCE FSK modems and a Karel DS200 PAX were used.
